Summer Lemons - Art Class Tickets - 26th July

I warmly invite you to join me for a studio experience day, where we will be painting this vibrant, 6" x 8" still life using acrylic paint.
This will be a fantastic learning experience to really tune in to how we see colour and form, while also focussing on using basic colour theory to bring life and light to your painting.
Ever wondered how to create realistic shadows, and glowing, clear colours? This is where you will find out!
The aim is to create a believable painting of the subject, while learning these essential skills, giving you knowledge you can apply to all of your future painting projects.
We welcome complete beginners and more experienced painters alike (minimum age requirement is 16). This will be an enjoyable and creative day, in the beautiful natural surroundings of Enchanted Valley Yurts, at Tregrove Farm, near Looe, in Cornwall.
With over 25 years of painting experience, I will share with you the key foundations of not only how I go about creating a painting, but also the reasons why I work in this way, giving you insights which took me years to learn, to super charge your painting journey.
This promises to be a fun filled and inspiring experience, which will also empower you with skills you can continue using in your own paintings, long after the class has finished.
We will cover:
- What materials are necessary or helpful in starting a painting
- An introduction to acrylic paints, why they are fantastic, and how to get the best from them
- Basic colour theory and mixing, tools, brushes and techniques
- An introduction to a realistic style of painting, and the key elements of how I lay the paint down and why
- Optional troubleshooting guidance for more experienced painters while we work (composition, edges, values and colour temperatures)
The class will run from 10am until 4pm, with a half hour break for lunch.
All materials are provided, along with hot drinks and biscuits, however please do bring your own packed lunch along with you, and any special snacks you may like for individual dietaries. We will aim for you to have a completed painting to take home with you at the end of the day, however a full materials list is provided to refer to if you would like to continue painting after our day together.
We have a stunning location for our studio space, courtesy of Enchanted Valley Yurts. This gorgeous valley is managed for wildlife, and provides truly inspiring and relaxing natural surroundings for our classes. Due to the location, there is a short walk across a sloped field from the car park to access the studio. All facilities on site are in cosy log cabins, with steps to access.
These are designed to be smaller, welcoming classes of up to 7 people, to allow you to have the best possible experience, with plenty of support. Therefore please do book as soon as you can to avoid disappointment.

Things to remember
All materials are provided for you to be able to create your artwork, and also hot drinks and biscuits are available throughout the day. We will provide dairy and oat milk, and some alternative biscuit options, however for specific dietary requirements you may wish to bring your own snacks and milk to enjoy.
Lunch is not provided, and as we are in a rural location there are no shops nearby, therefore please do ensure you bring a packed lunch along with you.
We have a car park available for students to use, please drive through the farmyard and follow the signs to the parking area at the back of the stables. From the car park there is a lovely short walk across a sloped grassy field. Therefore it is advisable to wear sturdy and water resistant footwear, or bring wellies and a change of footwear for the indoor activity, as even on a sunny morning the grass can still be quite wet from the night before.
Painting can be messy, so please wear suitable comfortable clothing, which doesn't mind having a little more colour added if the paint goes astray!
The class starts promptly at 10am, so do feel free to arrive 15 minutes early to get yourself a hot drink and settled in.

LOCATION
Enchanted Valley Yurts, at Tregrove Farm, Lanreath, Nr Looe, Cornwall, PL13 2NY. The site is not ordinarily open to the public without a prior reservation, bookings are required for all art classes, and seasonal accommodation can be booked separately direct with Enchanted Valley Yurts. PAYMENT
Full payment is required at the time of booking to secure your place in the class. This can be made through our booking system, or by calling 07596 404494.CANCELLATION POLICY
Cancellations outside of the 7 days prior to the class will be refunded in full, less a 5% admin fee. Cancellations within 7 days of the class start time can either have their monetary credit carried over to a future class (subject to availability), or a 50% refund can be offered. If we can re-sell your place in the class, a full refund can be issued, less a 5% admin fee.Laura Jefferson Art reserves the right to cancel or amend class dates if the necessity arises. In this circumstance a full refund will be issued, however no liability shall be held to any other party or for any other costs, including transport and accommodation.
PLEASE NOTE
Your possessions are brought on site at your own risk, and vehicles are parked at your own risk. No smoking is allowed, and no dogs or other animals are permitted on site without prior consent. No children or non participating adults will be permitted to attend the classes.There will be dogs and other animals present around the farm, please advise of any allergies prior to arrival and we will endeavour to keep the studio area clear of animals, however this cannot be 100% guaranteed. Please note that the access to the studio is across a sloped field, and access to the studio cabin and the separate cabin for toilets and washroom is via steps access only.
